Canucks to celebrate 20th anniversary of Rogers Arena in 20 ways over 20 games

Remember the night when the Vancouver Canucks played their first game at Rogers Arena, formerly known as General Motors Place? How about when the Grizzlies still played in Vancouver? And what about all the big act concerts, tournaments, conventions and everything in between?

Rogers Arena opened its doors on October 9, 1995, marking the first time in decades that professional hockey and the city’s best events returned to the downtown Vancouver core, replacing Hastings Park’s Pacific Coliseum as the region’s main entertainment venue.
The Vancouver Canucks have announced that over the course of the 2015 to 2016 season, they will be celebrating Rogers Arena’s 20th anniversary in 20 different ways over 20 special Canucks home games. It begins on October 10 to mark the original opening night of the arena 20 years ago.
This includes nights that celebrate the NBA Vancouver Grizzlies, the Olympic golden goal, the greatest guests, and those who left too soon.
