The season of giving is upon us, and right now, your support can help families in our community receive necessary care. Here’s why and how a donation to Canuck Place during its Light a Life campaign helps provide connection.
Family care
As the only pediatric palliative care provider in B.C. and the Yukon, Canuck Place cares for over 946 children with life-threatening illnesses and the families who love them. The holidays can be very difficult for Canuck Place families; the season looks and feels a little bit different.
When days are finite, wishes and hopes become clearer. Priceless and cherished moments become of the utmost importance, and you can help provide those.
On average, a family is with Canuck Place for 10 years, a combination of direct care for the child and further bereavement care for the entire family. During their time, children and families can receive services like pain and symptom management, medical respite, access to a 24-Hour Clinic Care Line, recreation therapy, counselling, and end-of-life care, all at no cost to families.
Canuck Place also offers choices for how and where families receive care, including in-hospice at one of their two locations in Vancouver and Abbotsford, in-home, and virtual care.
