The first flight of Syrian refugees arrived in Canada yesterday and were greeted at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport by none other than Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Canadians have been welcoming the newly arrived refugees on Twitter. The hashtag #WelcomeToCanada is currently trending and has more than 13,000 tweets at the time of publication.
Here’s a selection of the warm welcomes Canadians are giving Syrian refugees on social media:

People around the world are using the #WelcomeToCanada hashtag to show their support as well.

#WelcomeToCanada is heartwarming. A breath of fresh air in a world filled with bigotry and ignorance. I commend Canadians on their gestures.
