The Canadian passport has been ranked as one of the 20 most powerful passports in the world.
The Passport Index, created by Arton Capital, has released a list of which passports are the most powerful in 2021. A passport is ranked as more or less powerful based on the freedom it grants its holders to travel and move around the world, called its “global mobility.”

According to Passport Index, this is based on the number of countries that grant visa-free access to each passport holder. The average mobility score globally is 77.

This year, Canada is in 18th place with a mobility score of 108. The country is ranked one spot above the United States and one below Uruguay.

2015 – sixth place, visa-free score of 153
2016 – sixth place, visa-free score of 152
2017 – fourth place, visa-free score of 158
