Both Karker and Mackay represented Canada at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics in free style skiing. Karker won bronze in the women’s halfpipe event, while Mackay finished ninth in men’s halfpipe.
They have each represented Canada on the international stage in several other competitions.
Karker won silver in halfpipe at the 2021 Aspen World Championship and bronze at the 2023 Bakuriani World Championship. She’s also competed in four X Games, racking up two silver medals and two bronze in the SuperPipe.
Mackay, meanwhile, has competed in five X Games, with his best finish coming in 2020, winning bronze in the SuperPipe. He has finished in the top five on three other occasions, and finished seventh in 2025. Perhaps his most notable feat to date came at the 2023 Bakuriani World Championship, where he won a gold medal in halfpipe.
Mackay was ranked the world’s No. 1 halfpipe skier heading into the 2022 Olympics, but was one of several competitors who struggled in the event due to wild wind conditions.
