Canada's FIFA World Cup mascot has snazzy new merch

The biggest star of next year’s FIFA World Cup officially has their own merchandise line.

No, we’re not talking about Alphonso Davies or Lionel Messi, but rather Maple the Moose, the adorable Canadian mascot unveiled Thursday ahead of next year’s 48-team event.

Along with Clutch the Bald Eagle (United States) and Zayu the Jaguar (Mexico), each of the three North American host countries will have its own set of mascot merchandise.

Starting off the merch line is a T-shirt for each animal, retailing at C$50 via the official FIFA World Cup store.

“The three mascots are central to the incredible, entertaining atmosphere we’re creating for this game-changing tournament. They’ll win hearts and spark celebrations across North America and around the world. I can already picture them on children’s shirts, high-fiving football legends and – in another first for this tournament – starring in video games played by millions worldwide,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino upon their unveiling.

In addition to the country-specific shirts, there’s also one showing all three animal mascots.

While it’s admittedly a pretty bare-bones store a little under a year out from the tournament, there are also a few other options in Toronto, Vancouver, as well as team gear, including Canada-specific merch.

As more teams qualify and as we get closer to the tournament, we can only imagine that Maple (and other World Cup) merchandise will be flooding the shelves both virtually and in stores all across Canada.

When is the FIFA World Cup in Canada?

The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Canada is scheduled to play three group-stage matches, in Toronto on June 12 and in Vancouver on June 18 and 24. The Canadian national team could also play up to an additional two knockout-round matches on Canadian soil, in the Round of 32 and the Round of 16, both in Vancouver. There will be seven matches in Vancouver and six in Toronto.
