Canada's Draught Master Challenge at Doolin's

Dec 19 2017, 12:36 pm

Beer lovers do not want to miss this! This week Stella Artois (my beer of choice and I love this commercial of theirs) is holding its 10th annual quest to find Canada’s Draught Master. To earn a spot in the competition, 16 beer fans from across Vancouver will show off their best Nine-Step Pour at Doolin’s Irish Pub on September 17, 2010. The winner will advance to the national championships in Toronto, September 24.

What is the 9 Step Pouring Ritual?

The Nine-Step Pouring Ritual is rooted in a deep and exacting tradition that includes a series of very precise steps to obtain the perfect pour. Draught Maters must first purify the chalice with cold water, ensure only the freshest beer makes it into the glass and create a perfect head that’s exactly 3 cm thick to protect the beer inside. It’s not as easy as it looks, and takes lots of practice.
Stella Artois has held Draught Master qualifying rounds throughout the Lower Mainland to teach beer aficionados about the Nine-Step Pouring Ritual and give them a chance to put their beer pouring skills to the test. From there, the Canadian champion will go on to compete in the 14th annual Stella Artois World Draught Master Competition in London, England on October 28.
