The list is in: Canada’s Top 50 Restaurants have been revealed, and a respectable eight are located in Metro Vancouver.
In its fourth year, the Vacay.ca list takes votes and rankings from a panel of restaurant biz insiders and critics (though no one can vote for their own place), to come up with their ultimate collection of the nation’s best in dining.
For 2015, only one Vancouver restaurant cracked the top 10: Hawksworth, which ranked fifth. Although that’s a one spot jump up for Hawskworth from last year, this year Vancouver’s showing was further down the list, with city hot spots Vij’s (14), L’Abattoir (15), and Farmer’s Apprentice (18) cracking the top 20.
One noteworthy Top 50 spot goes to Vancouver’s Bauhaus. The freshman German-inspired fine dining restaurant in Gastown has just been open a few weeks, but landed at number 28 on the list.

Rounding out the Top 50 for Vancouver are La Quercia (31), and Café Medina (33). Vikram Vij’s critically-acclaimed My Shanti has been making the drive to South Surrey worth it for over a year now; it placed at 35. Elsewhere in British Columbia, Araxi in Whistler (38) and Wolf in the Fog in Tofino (46) made it on the list.
The number one restaurant in Canada this year is Raymonds, in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
