Canada's new FIFA World Cup song features Nelly Furtado

Every locker room needs a good pump-up song before stepping into game action.
Will this be the song that’s played in the Canadian locker room ahead of the FIFA World Cup?
Canada Soccer recently teamed up with producer Boi-1da and Nelly Furtado for a new song called “Electric Circus,” which dropped Friday on streaming platforms.
“Electric Circus” is the first song from the upcoming album Perfect Pitch, which will be released as Canada Soccer’s official soundtrack for the FIFA World Cup.
Canada isn’t the first country to release a song for their team ahead of the World Cup. France has an unofficial one with the tune “Imbattables,” which brings a more intense feel than the ear candy-esque jam from Furtado.
FIFA also released an anthem for the World Cup last month with the song “Lighter,” by Jelly Roll and CarĆn León.
For those who may not be a fan of Lighter or Electric Circus, perhaps there’ll be a shot at redemption before Perfect PitchĀ is released. The Canada Soccer album, which will be released on June 5, will feature other prominent Canadian artists like Alessia Cara, Charlotte Cardin, Loud Luxury, Zeds Dead and The Tragically Hip.
“We have some of the best, if not the best, artists in the world,” Boi-1da said last month at an event promoting the album.
“I’ve dreamt of working with Nelly Furtado and Jessie Reyez, K-os, and different artists. To finally be able to get in the studio and have a moment with them, on such a high stage like this, there’s no better feeling.”
Never mind an album, Canada didn’t even have an official song during their appearance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, “Started from the Bottom” by Drake became the team’s unofficial locker room track.
“When I heard the song, it kind of all resonated with the moment,” Kamal Miller said back in 2022.
“The fact that we’re a team that really did start from the bottom, so the lyrics fit in with the occasion. And it felt right.”
Canada will make their debut at the FIFA World Cup 2026 on June 12, one week following the release of Pitch Perfect.
