Canada Day 2010 Celebrations in Surrey/Cloverdale

DH Vancouver Staff Jun 29, 2010 6:18 pm

As Canada Day nears, we take our first and only look at celebrations south of the Fraser and head on over the bridge and into Surrey. Surrey’s Canada Day Celebration at the Cloverdale Amphitheatre promises to be another incredible day of activities and entertainment for the entire family. Dragonette is a reason enough to go, but then they throw in Stereos and that’s a deal breaker for me.
The Chevron Main Stage features Honeymoon Suite, ODDS, Stereos, Dragonette, Jessie Farrell, Ridley Bent, Shiamak Bollywood Dance, Abba and Fleetwood Mac tribute bands, and Charlotte Diamond.
Shooting Stars Amusement will be back with all the great rides like the Ferris Wheel, the Zipper, the Spider, and much more. Plus, all the best Bouncy Castles that only a kid could love.
Be sure to come hungry too as we’ll over 30 food vendors including summer favorites like corn on the cob, fresh lemonade, real fruit smoothies, smokies, pizza, Indian cuisine, and even White Spot will be on site this year.
Of course, we’ll end the night with the Fruiticana Fireworks Spectacular at 10:15pm.

Although it claims to be the largest celebration in Western Canada, that has now been surpassed by Vancouver’s Celebration at Canada Place, which last year drew close to 150,000 people and this year is expected to attract 200,000 people plus an additional 100,000 on the North Shore to view the fireworks and parade . Nonetheless, Surrey’s celebration is easily the largest in the Fraser Valley.
