This could soon be one of Canada's most in-demand careers (and there's no experience necessary)

When someone asks you if you’ll be working in the same career in 10 years time, what’s your response? Still unsure? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one.

This year didn’t exactly get off to a great start with employment dropping by 88,000 in January, according to a labour force survey by Statistics Canada.

But despite this, there’s a career path that’s booming – in solar energy.

The clean energy revolution has arrived in Canada and as the market continues to grow, so does the need for solar installers. Although solar installations have been historically limited to Ontario, they’re now in demand nationwide.

If you thought ‘Raincouver’ didn’t stand a chance, think again. The city has a greater annual average of measurable sunny days than other parts of the country, according to a study from 1981 to 2010 by Environment Canada. As a result, homes and businesses with solar panels are generating their own independent source of energy and saving money.

How you can get involved

If a job in what could soon be one of Canada’s most in-demand careers sounds appealing to you, Stardust Solar can help. The Burnaby-based solar system provider is offering certified training courses across Canada.

Whether you’re interested in a career in solar panel installation or if you simply want to find out how you can install systems yourself, taking one of these programs is a great way to start.

Contrary to what you might think, you don’t need any previous electrical experience to get trained as all courses offered are set at an introductory installation level.

A career in renewable energy

Working as a solar installer means that you’ll be helping the environment and your community at the same time. Unlike gas, oil, and coal, solar energy is efficient, renewable, and 100% clean.

Plus, if you install solar panels on your own home, you’ll have a greater sense of security with access to energy at all times. This means your home won’t fall into darkness in the case of a power outage.
