Cambie and Marine: 2 More Towers Proposed

Dec 19 2017, 1:07 pm

The area surrounding the Marine Drive and Cambie Canada Line Station will be noticeably different in the coming years as a lot more density is coming to the neighbourhood. This will happen despite the squeals from area residents. The two newest towers for the area have been proposed by James KM Cheng Architects.

The current proposal is for a mixed-use development with 446 residential units, 59 rental units, 14 “choice of use” units (residential or commercial), and 10,000 sq. ft. of retail/commercial space. The two towers come in at 285 feet (31 floors)  and a 235 feet (24 floors). The most noticeable thing about this project is all the units in the building will be less than 900 square feet. Not saying one can’t live in under a 900 square feet, I do so quite comfortably. It’s just strange that greater floor options aren’t available. Perhaps that will change as the approval process takes place.

If approved, this project will fit in well with the 3 towers of the Marine Gateway project already planned just south of this site. In case you are wondering what the future of Marine & Cambie will look like, check out our earlier post here.
