Buses Coming Back to Granville

Dec 19 2017, 12:34 pm

After a long hiatus, trolley buses will be making there comeback to Granville Mall (see this cool video on the new Granville here). Is this the right move for the city?  Right now Granville seems reinvigorated as pedestrian only corridor, especially during the day so why mess with a good thing? Nonetheless, TransLink says trolley buses will once again be on Granville Mall starting September 7. Businesses on Granville will welcome this decision.

In 2006 the service was altered to accommodate the Canada Line construction and then later by the city’s eventual decision to redesign the Granville Mall, which took far too long. The redesign led to the development of a temporary pedestrian only corridor.

If it was up to me Granville street from Pender to Nelson would be pedestrian only 24/7. However, the city has proposed that Granville will be pedestrian only on the weekend evenings and holidays. I guess that is a fair solution.
