Burrard Street is closed today between Georgia and Pender
Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver is closed Saturday, February 22 between Georgia and Pender Streets for water main upgrades.
Burrard will be closed from 7 am to 9 pm, and the City of Vancouver is advising drivers to plan an alternate route. The road will still be accessible to transit users, though, the city said.

The closure is related to ongoing work to upgrade the water and sewer system beneath Georgia Street. The city committed to replacing it in 2019 after two bursts in the space of three months.
“The existing water main, installed in 1924, has reached the end of its service life and needs to be replaced following a series of recent leaks,” the city said on its website.
The new water main should last another 100 years.
