It’s that time of year again; time to get festive and spread all kinds of Christmas cheer.

Burnaby Village Museum is hosting their Heritage Christmas this season, the place to go for all kinds of Christmas celebrations, including their annual tree lighting ceremony on December 1, a festive gift shop, seasonal treats, live entertainment, and (of course) visits from Father Christmas. Listen to the Sounds of Christmas from different eras playing in locations around the Village; it doesn’t get more festive that that.

We’ve done the research and compiled a list of all the FREE activities you can enjoy at this year’s Heritage Christmas — mark it in your calendars, you won’t want to miss this season’s fun.

The main event: You won’t want to miss this. Witness the official tree lighting in an evening of ceremony, celebration, and community in a night of incredible Christmas spirit. Be sure to arrive by 6 pm when the tree lighting ceremony will commence. Following the ceremony enjoy a hot chocolate or apple cider, while supplies last.

Help raise funds for the Burnaby Christmas Bureau by taking a ride on the carousel between 4 pm and 9 pm on December 1, with Concord Pacific matching the proceeds and doubling the donation.

Nothing smells better than freshly baked cookies, so make sure to enjoy the aroma wafting out of the Farmhouse kitchen every Sunday afternoon. If you’re lucky, you may even get a sample of a ginger sparkle or a shortbread cookie!

The best part about Christmas is, without a doubt, the festive displays. You can enjoy an abundance of season vintage displays throughout the stores in the Village, and when night falls, witness the spectacular light displays. Marvel at displays from past years including sound reactive lights in the Band Stand, as well as brand new displays including elegant masked ladies behind curtains of light.
