Woman in hospital after sex assault on Burnaby trail

The Burnaby RCMP are warning the public to remain vigilant after a woman was sexually assaulted on the Burnaby Mountain Urban Trail yesterday afternoon.

On February 18 at around 12:40 p.m., the RCMP responded to a call after a woman was approached by a man on a busy trail and sexually assaulted. She had to be taken to hospital and is being treated.

The man is described as 5’7″ with a slim build, caucasian, balding and between the ages of 40 and 50 years old. He had on black gloves, a black jacket, black Adidas runners with green writing, and grey sweat pants with very muddy cuffs. After sexually assaulting the woman, he fled through the bushes in the direction of Lougheed Mall.

Corporal Daniela Panesar is warning women to walk in pairs or in a group in the area around the Burnaby Mountain Urban Trail.
