Burnaby is filled with great events in August! From BC Day, RCMP Musical Ride and more, here are 10 things to do around the city this month.

BC Day Market Monday at Burnaby Village Museum

  • What: Celebrate BC Day and Market Monday at Burnaby Village Museum. Featuring chainsaw carving demonstrations, Lumberjack Show presented by Laughing Logger, Vancouver Circus School, live music and more.

Movies at Civic Square

Burnaby Roots & Blues Festival 2018

  • What: Mixing folk and Americana to rock & roll and vintage rhythm & blues, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats headline this year’s performance. The family-friendly festival will also feature performances by The Rural Alberta Advantage, Nikki Lane, The Suffers, Begonia, and Amythyst Kiah.

Burnaby Pride Street Party

  • What: Burnaby’s first Pride event recognizes and celebrates the diversity of the LGBTQ2S+ community in Burnaby. Enjoy a full afternoon of live performances, food, activities, and community resources.

RCMP Musical Ride – Burnaby

  • What: A unique piece of Canadian showmanship with an evening packed with a variety of entertainment, activities and displays. The RCMP Musical Ride features intricate drills and choreography, including the famous “Dome” formation, which was once featured on the back of the Canadian fifty-dollar bill, to the exciting “Charge” movement, where lances are lowered and the riders’ mounts launch into a gallop. Proceeds from ticket sales will help support Cops for Cancer and KidSport Burnaby.

Willingdon’s Annual Community Fair

Exhibition Opening – Jawahir: Jewels

  • What: Jawahir: Jewels by Durrah Alsaif is an exhibition at the Deer Lake Art Gallery, and is hosted and organized by the Burnaby Arts Council. Through photography, performances, and installations, Alsaif explores the cultural identity between the East and the West as well as the status of women in Saudi Arabia.
