The crowds were packed and enthusiastic for this year’s Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival. This year marked the festival’s 15th anniversary at gorgeous Deer Lake.
While always a good time, sound isolation wasn’t perfect among the three stages. Given the diverse genres and styles the festival brings in, some of the quieter acoustic acts were drowned out by the heavier, noisier bands. Some better scheduling decisions would have better balanced this out.
The headliners were mostly solid, and the stuff on the smaller stages was just as good. While no ‘ah-hah’ moments for me this year, Burnaby Blues and Roots has a great reputation, and this year’s festival was no different.
