We’re taking a tasty tour of Vancouver’s many brunches to create The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide. This week we’re at Buckstop for a BBQ-inspired mid-morning feast.
Located at 833 Denman Street, Buckstop is a saloon-style eatery in Vancouver’s West End that serves a tantalizing mix of comfort-driven meals week-round.

While Buckstop’s weekday menu is dominated by Southern staples like hush puppies, cornbread, pulled pork sandwiches, Memphis style ribs, smoked brisket, and more, these items are not excluded to the eatery’s dinner service. Indeed, come the weekend Buckstop dishes up an array of BBQ delights for brunch.
Offering a drool inducing menu, Buckstop opens for brunch on Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Here brunch plates include more classic breakfast dishes like: bacon and eggs ($8), mushroom and goats cheese scramble ($11), as well as Southern infused fare such as pulled pork Eggs Benedict ($12), a smoked brisket breakfast sandwich ($12), and barbecued pork scramble ($11).

While it’s fair to say that the menu is geared towards meat lovers, a non-meat brunch highlight is definitely the Belgian-style waffle ($11). Hot, fresh and perfectly chewy, Buckstop’s waffle is served with maple syrup, two poached eggs and house-made preserves.
Brunch-goers also have the choice to add a side serving of pulled pork ($3). If meat is your thing, you’ll want to make this addition. The crisp waffle, soft runny eggs, juicy pulled pork, and sweet maple syrup is a truly winning combination.

In addition to the homemade preserves (whisky berry and spicy peach), Buckstop also makes from scratch their own hot sauce, chipotle ketchup and chutney. In doing so Buckstop ensures a noticeable quality and freshness is tasted with every bite consumed.
As far as drinks go, Buckstop offers coffee for $2.50 a mug, as well as a range of alcoholic beverages from their well-stocked bar, including a $6 Caesar. If you’re after a Caesar, or any other boozy concoction for that matter, as soon as the restaurant opens, you will have to allow 30 minutes or so, as the liquor license doesn’t kick in until 11 a.m.

For a reasonably priced (Buckstop offers one of the most affordable brunches downtown, let alone the West End), original and delicious tasting brunch, where diners are promised to have all their BBQ needs met, you really can’t go past Buckstop. Aside from their tempting brunch menu, the restaurant also offers a casual, laid-back setting and is staffed by friendly servers.
