Brunch in Vancouver: Glowbal Grill - International Steakhouse

Dec 19 2017, 2:20 pm

It’s undoubted that a steakhouse would be a good place to for lunch or dinner, but brunch is usually not the first thing that comes to mind. At Glowbal Grill, brunch is treated just as importantly as any other meal. This weekender meal is especially fantastic when you’re sitting on their patio on a nice day. This is the first and original restaurant of the Glowbal Collection which consists of eight other fine restaurants around town. The Glowbal Group just celebrated their 10th anniversary this past March, and are still constantly striving to improve the Vancouver dining scene.

As I sat down at the corner of Glowbal Grill’s patio I was welcomed with an order of their Mini Doughnuts. These crispy doughnuts are covered in sugar and are the best way for one to start off their weekend morning. I haven’t eaten mini doughnuts this good since the Calgary Stampede, and that says a lot.

After the doughnuts, I indulged in a small serving of their Belgian Waffle. This waffle is flavoured with honey, caramel, and white chocolate mousse, then topped off with some fresh fruits. This waffle had the perfect texture and just the right level of sweetness. In its full-size, it could easily serve as a filling meal.

Glowbal Grill serves all kinds of drinks to accommodate any brunch meal, but a nice Latte in the morning is what I prefer most. This latte had a good foam on top and was silky smooth with no overwhelming bitterness.

For all egg fanatics, the Mushroom Frittata here is to die for. Served on its own hot pan, this egg-based dish is stuffed with mushrooms and cheese. But even with all that’s in it, the frittata I tried was still very fluffy and light. Accompanied with a salad and potatoes on the side, this brunch plate is enough to satisfy most with a hearty appetite.

The Lobster Benedict is one of Glowbal Grill’s most popular dishes. It consists of atlantic lobster, poached eggs, and pancetta bread. The contrasting textures of the eggs and the bread worked together immaculately in my dish. Even without any additional seasoning, I felt that this benedict already had enough taste. Also popular are their salmon and crab benedicts, and there are endless debates going on about which one’s the best.

Glowbal Grill really sets the bar up for what brunch in Yaletown should be. All their classic American plates are nothing less than amazing, and their food is topped off with excellent service and a relaxing ambience. A visit to Glowbal Grill is all it takes for one to realize why the Glowbal Group is recognized by most Vancouverites – it’s a rest-assured good dining experience.
