BroadbandTV and FremantleMedia North America Ink Multi-Project Original Programming Deal

Leading media and technology company BroadbandT (BBTV), based in Vancouver, has partnered with FremantleMedia North America (FMNA)’s digital content studio, Tiny Riot!, on a multi-year original programming deal spanning entertainment, gaming and music content. The deal initially sees both companies co-create five pilot shows, ahead of fully co-producing an ongoing series of popular content.

The team produces a number of popular and renowned shows such as Got Talent, The X Factor and Family Feud,” commented Shahrzad Rafati, Founder & CEO BroadbandTV. “FremantleMedia is YouTube’s biggest independent TV production partner and this partnership will combine our joint expertise, resources and reach to create, market and distribute compelling original content for the millennial audience with a focus on genres such as entertainment and gaming.”

The pilot shows are currently under development and sit within high-growth online content verticals, both companies will distribute the content through their most appropriate platforms once fully developed. BBTV currently achieves over 2.4 billion monthly impressions across its network, with over 22,000 content creators.

In April this year, BBTV and FremantleMedia North America announced that BBTV’s content management team and proprietary technology platform, VISO NOVI will track and manage fan-uploaded content for over 200 popular FremantleMedia TV shows, including: American IdolThe Price is RightGot TalentBaywatch and The X Factor.

In June 2013, the leading European entertainment network RTL Group acquired a majority stake in BBTV. Both companies also formed an ongoing strategic partnership to accelerate the global growth strategy of BBTV. RTL Group’s initial investment of US-$36 million is part of a planned series of investments in the company.
