Meet British Columbia’s first baby of 2019!
Born at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, Dominik Soswa was born at exactly 12:01 am.

Partway through December, the BCLC began taking bets on which hospital the first baby would be born at.
Of the 24 hospitals within the province, the BC Women’s Hospital in Vancouver had the highest chances of winning, with 5/1 odds. The Surrey Memorial was ranked second highest with 6/1 odds.
The Royal Columbian Hospital actually had some of the lowest odds.
BC’s first baby of 2018 was born nine seconds after midnight to Manpreet Kaur Nijjar and Hardip Singh Shergill at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
