Bright Nights in Stanley Park on track for opening night despite November theft

No matter what happens, the Bright Nights train is leaving the station, one way or another.
On November 11, thieves made off with $7,000 worth of extension cords from the in-progress display, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors, and raises hundreds of thousands of dollars, every year. Despite the setback, Bright Nights is still well on its way to opening on time this Thursday, November 26.
Bright Nights take visitors on a miniature train ride through Stanley Park, passing more than one million lights in a brilliant holiday themed display. During the course of the event, the miniature trains will cover over 5,000 kilometres – functionally travelling the width of Canada.
Front gate donations and a portion of ticket sales from Bright Nights goes towards the B.C. Professional Fight Fighters’ Burn Fund. Since aligning with the fund in 1998, Bright Nights has been responsible for $1.5 million in donations.
