Here's when Lower Mainland’s most accessible waterslide opens for summer

Summertime and the slippin’ is easy, especially with the Lower Mainland’s most accessible waterslides soon opening for the season.

Bridal Falls Waterpark is helping visitors get wet and wild daily from Friday, June 27, until Monday, Sept. 1.

Just a 90-minute drive from Vancouver, the popular Fraser Valley destination is designed for families, so young water lovers will have just as much fun as adults.

However, the waterpark notes that this year, the opening will be limited, after a turbulent past summer season marked by a safety incident.

The partial reopening comes nearly a year after a fibreglass failure on one of the park’s tube slides caused several injuries, including a serious leg injury to an 11-year-old.

According to Technical Safety BC, long-term degradation of the slide’s structure led to a sudden crack and deformation that went undetected during the park’s daily inspection.

While the park’s iconic body slides remain closed indefinitely, water park officials say several family-friendly zones will open this week.

“We are sorry that we can’t welcome you with a full opening with all our slides,” reads a statement from the park on the website.

“We are challenged with some government rules that we are working to resolve.”

What’s open at the park:

Here’s what the Bridal Falls Waterpark staff says will be open to the public as of June 27.

  • Kids’ Splash Pad
  • Kid’s slides (great for children 12 and under)
  • Main pool – perfect for cooling off
  • Giant hot tub – heated to 102ºF and open to everyone

Admission is $10 per person, available at the gate only. Children aged two and under are admitted free of charge.

The children’s zone will operate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, and guests can come and go throughout the day.

The park has plenty of green space, covered areas, and picnic tables for lunch and snacks between slides. Guests are welcome to bring their own food or purchase something from the ice cream and coffee shop or the concession and snack bar.
