Body recovered in SUV overturned in water-filled ditch in Pitt Meadows

Emergency crews recovered a body from a SUV that crashed into a ditch filled with water in an agricultural area of Pitt Meadows.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning at approximately 11 a.m. near Ford Road and Ford Detour Road.

It is unclear how long the driver was trapped underwater inside the vehicle, which was found titled to its side on a 210 degree angle. Rescuers retrieved the individual from the vehicle but were not able to perform a resuscitation.

Later on in the day, the SUV was raised from the ditch. Police are in the early stages of investigating the circumstances and cause of the incident. The identity of the deceased individual has not been released at this time.
