Bob Kasting drops out of mayoral race, backs Kirk LaPointe

Dec 19 2017, 8:42 pm

Lawyer, community leader, and Olympic swimmer Bob Kasting has pulled out of the race to be Vancouver’s mayor, and instead is backing Kirk LaPointe.

Kasting, who was running as an independent, made the announcement Thursday morning in a press conference at Robson Square.

The former candidate says he supports the NPA’s LaPointe unconditionally.

Kasting’s name will, however, remain on the ballot, and is unable to formally withdraw from the campaign due to the proximity of election day.
