Boats beached as high winds lash English Bay (PHOTOS)

On Sunday, at least two boats were beached at English Bay when high winds pummelled the Metro Vancouver region, causing large waves to crash into the shoreline.

One small sailboat was visibly destroyed after it repeatedly slammed against rocks along the shoreline. One side of the entire vessel has been completely hollowed through by the scraping.

Some thrill seekers even took the rare opportunity to kite surf through the bay, traveling at high speeds guided by the strong gusts. Winds were forecasted to reach up to 70 km/h by the water.

Unlike last month’s powerful windstorm, only a few power outages were recored in the Lower Mainland.
