Blueprint’s 15-year anniversary was celebrated over the long weekend with a highly anticipated show that had EDM fans waiting for months. It featured four of the top electro house DJ’s in the game performing at the Vancouver Convention Centre, with over 5000 EDM spectators. The set production was incredible with giant digital visuals, lights, and lasers dazzling in every direction.
Blueprint’s 15-year anniversary kicked off with the up-and-coming Australian DJ, Tommy Trash, who warmed up the crowd from 9:30-10:30. Although it seemed fairly early for a set, his tracks had thousands of fans uncontrollably jumping with the beat to his various rowdy house tracks, including his remix of Deadmau5’s “The Veldt” and “Reload.” Tommy Trash had the crowd so amped up that it was hard to believe it was only 10:30 when his set finished. Next up was another Aussie DJ and legend, Dirty South. By this time the venue was already packed with fans that were ready to party hard. Dirty South unleashed an hour and half set of bangers that had the entire crowd singing along and fist pumping in unison. People may have been surprised that Dirty South was still not the opening act because he was killing it with tunes such as, “Walking Alone” and “Eyes Wide Open.” He had the fans extra pumped up and singing along when he mashed up Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso’s track “Calling” with his own mega hit “Phazing.” He then went on to close with “City of Dreams” and his remix of “Coming Home.”
At midnight it was time for the anticipated headlining act of American DJ Porter Robinson and German DJ Zedd playing together! They started out dropping some of Zedd’s tracks, including “Shave It” and “Stars Come Out.” Over the next hour and a half they would cycle through their own hits, and drop in a few tracks from other massive DJ’s such as “Strobe” by Deadmau5 and “Save the World” by Swedish House Mafia. Porter and Zedd were brilliant on stage and continued to increase the fans’ excitement as the night progressed. The two great performers jumped and goofed around on stage like little kids. My personal highlight of the night was when Zedd dropped “The Legend of Zelda” with the digital images of the video game in the background and confetti shooting into the crowd; it felt like you were Link fighting off Ganon in the game!
As the show was nearing the end, it was inevitable that they were going to close with Porter Robinson’s mega hit “Language.” The anticipated track had the fans raging like never before, hoping the song and the electric vibe in the Convention Centre wouldn’t end. Porter and Zedd’s set ended abruptly at 1:30, as they exited the stage like champions. However, the night wasn’t over yet. The party continued at Celebrities night club until 4am with “mystery guests,” which included Ansol, Nick Thayer and Tommy Trash (again) to finish off what was an unforgettable and electric night in tribute to Blueprint’s 15-year anniversary.
