Here's your sneak peek at the new Blossom at Metropolis installation (PHOTOS)

Spring joy has arrived early in Metro Vancouver with the awe-inspiring, one-of-a-kind, Blossom at Metropolis.

The art installation opened at Metropolis at Metrotown today, with more than 250,000 glistening cherry blossoms on display. It’s running through March 31, and we stopped by to give you a first look at this Instagrammable haven.

Unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, the installation was created by Vancouver interactive-arts company Hfour — a group of creators with a visually outstanding portfolio. Ther work has been showcased in LA, Toyko, and NYC, among other major cities around the world.

Blossom at Metropolis encourages you to wander, take endless Instagram photos in the “selfie zone” and pretty much everywhere surrounding it.

Let’s be real, you don’t often get to surround yourself with a quarter of a million blossoms that reflect in mirror spheres (some up to four metres tall). And when you do, it creates the beautiful illusion of infinite blooms hanging above you.

Make the most of your visit to Blossom at Metropolis by attending one of the floral art and Japanese cultural workshops taking place every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, during the installation’s 27-day display.

MUJI Canada will be partnering up for workshop Wednesdays and Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre will be there for Tuesday and Thursday events.

Choose a workshop and learn origami, brush lettering, traditional Japanese paper and fabric art, flower arranging, traditional Japanese folk dancing, and much more! Check out the full schedule and register via Metropolis at Metrotown now.
