Bloomingdale's Vancouver Shop at The Bay?

Dec 19 2017, 1:41 pm

According to the Globe & Mail this morning the Hudson’s Bay Co. is in talks with upscale department store Bloomingdale’s to bring the store to Canada and Vancouver is one of three locations being touted as possible candidates. If this happens The Bay downtown will become an even greater destination for shoppers as it will house Topshop, Topman, The Room and possibly Bloomingdale’s. This is all in preparation for the soon to be announced arrival of Nordstrom in Vancouver

If this Bloomingdale’s deal goes through, it will be a store inside the bay. Possible take up an entire floor or more and be in stores by the end of the year.

It looks like The Bay isn’t giving up easy as the foreign retail invasion looms. They’ll be spending a considerable amount of money updating the buildings facade as well.

The Sears downtown closes in October 2012. After that many industry insiders have pegged Nordstrom to take a chunk of that space. Nordstrom is currently in talks with Cadillac Fairview (owners of Pacific Centre).

The winner in all this is the Vancouver shopper.
