Once again this year BLENZ COFFEE is promoting the BLENZ Red Band, a concept which proved very popular with single Vancouverites last year. The concept is unique in the fact that it facilitates an environment for singles to meet other singles using a customized coffee sleeve! During the month of February, every BLENZ location will be carrying regular to go cup sleeves and red ones called the “BLENZ Red Band”. If you are single you would grab this red sleeve instead of the regular one, prompting other singles to approach you and vice versa.
It’s essentially a new way to meet people. In a city known for being a difficult place to meet new people, this is the perfect icebreaker.
On the sleeve customers can write their name and preference, whether it be looking for a date, friendship, or something more serious.
Last year, Yuliya Talmazan approached BLENZ President, George Moen, with the concept. Yuliya, a local media professional, came up with the idea one day as she was walking by a coffee shop and it popped into her head – a lot of young, single people drink coffee and spend a lot of time hanging around at coffee shops – so why not let the beverages that they buy speak for themselves? “It gets lonely around Valentine’s Day if you are single, especially in this city,” says Talmazan. “Vancouver is notorious for having more single people than there is rain. Unfortunately, it’s really hard to get to meet new people these days. So I thought it would be nice to have some sort of a token that everyone could recognize… something to set you apart as being single.” Moen jumped on the idea immediately saying, “At Blenz we’re all about building relationships so this concept fits in naturally with our company vision. Coffee is the excuse – people are the reason why we are in business – and the Blenz Red Band is the perfect excuse to come meet some local singles, coffee is no longer just your daily dose of caffeine –it is now a conversation starter, an excuse to talk!”
Blenz will be promoting the “Blenz Red Band” through Facebook and Twitter from February 3 to 28, 2012. Anyone who mentions #BLENZREDBAND on Twitter during the promotion will be entered into a daily draw to win gift cards and BLENZ Valentines goodies.
