From ancient China to BLENZ COFFEE Vancouver.
Did you know that the origins of matcha actually lie in ancient China not Japan? It all started in the Song Dynasty when a method of making powdered tea from steam-prepared dried tea leaves, and preparing the beverage by whipping the tea powder and hot water together in a bowl became popular. Originally drunk by Buddhist Monks to help with concentration and stay awake during meditation, matcha is highly valued for its rich supply of antioxidants.
There are many grades of matcha and BLENZ COFFEE uses only the finest organic ceremonial grade matcha flown directly from the tea plantations of Aichi, Japan. The plantations have won over twenty national awards in quality and craftsmanship in the last ten years and the matcha is grown, processed and stone milled right at the plantation in Aichi.
