There has been some buzz surrounding the film Black Mass which is directed by Scott Cooper. The story is about long time Boston Kingpin Whitey Bulger. If you want a little history lesson I recommend looking up the documentary on Netflix called Whitey: United States v. James J. Bulger
The cast is very strong with the likes of Johnny Depp who stars and plays the ruthless gangster Bulger. Recently at CinemaCon, Warner Brothers showed a part of the film which got a very positive reception from the people in attendance. Director Scott Cooper, who answered questions on the Warner Brothers panel, called Depp’s portrayal a “performance for the ages.”
The film also stars Kevin Bacon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dakota Johnson, Sienna Miller, Joel Edgerton, Jesse Plemons and David Harbour.
Black Mass will be released on September 18th just in time for award season. For now, the fine people at WB, have released the first intense teaser trailer.
