Biggest swing dance in Western Canada lindying into Vancouver

Dec 20 2017, 5:03 am

Get your dancing shoes on! Lindy Bout, the biggest swing dance event in Western Canada, will be dukin’ it out on the dance floor in Vancouver this weekend.

Now in its 10th year, the Lindy hop will be held at Performance Works on Granville Island, and is expected to attract hundreds of dancers from across Canada and the United States.

The three-day event includes high energy competitions, social dancing, and world-class jazz from local musicians; priding itself on its camaraderie, it’s open to pros and newbies alike.

“We are beyond excited that Lindy Bout is now in its 10th year!” said event director Eileen Jones.

“What’s amazing about this event is that everyone is cheering each other on in an environment that is wildly encouraging and supportive.”

Lindy Bout also features workshops for all levels of dancers where you can learn how to play with rhythms, make the basics look fabulous or swoon as you dance to a live jazz band.

And in classic Vancouver style, you can even chill out with some gentle yoga for swing dancers.
