A new type of “BRU” is open in the Mount Pleasant neigh-brew-hood of Vancouver. With a grand opening set for April 10th, Big Rock Brewery and Urban Eatery will bring a familiar brand with a new flavour. Having neighbours like CRAFT, 33 Acres, Brassneck and Steel Toad, Big Rock Brewery and Urban Eatery (also known as BRU) has decided to do things deliberately differently.

Originally established by Ed McNally at the age of 60 in Alberta, Big Rock Brewery has become a popular brand across Canada over the past 30 years. McNally originally wanted to build a brew that he and his buds could enjoy while socializing.

JM Pellard, General Manager of BRU, is carrying on this tradition at Big Rock Urban by welcoming guests to a shared experience. The Eatery will encourage patrons to sit, share and enjoy.

This new dinner-tainment establishment will feature local visual artists’ such as James Alan Spoor and live music rotating nightly. With no televisions on site, BRU will steer people back towards personal engagements.

Chef Alex Newton, formerly of Famoso Neopolitan Pizzeria, will add to the BRU experience by introducing a share plate-focused menu. Having a handmade Wood Stone oven for pizza and flatbread is bound to set the stage for some of Chef Newton’s delicious creations.
