Summer is finally here and this recent heat wave has patios packed. In honour of of the amazing weather and happy people, it’s time to reveal the best patios to make the most out of the summer months.
Kits is all about fun in the sun and patios are a crucial element for those long summer days when you feel like kicking back and spending some time with friends. Oh, and just to clarify, we are labeling “Kits” only as far east as Burrard Street.
The Local
Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first. Pretty much everyone knows The Local, and trying to nab a patio seat on a sunny day is next to impossible. The Local gets points for being the “go to” in Kits but loses points for being so damn packed all the time!

Chewies
Just up the block from Local, Chewies has only been around for a year and a half but already feels like a fixture. Think oysters, wine and a sun-drenched patio.

The Boathouse
Right on Kits Beach, The Boathouse patio gets credit for being one of the only establishments in Kits with unrestricted views of the water.

Las Margaritas
Las Margaritas is a great casual spot on 4th to relax and have a pitcher or two of margaritas with some freshly made salsa. Expect to wait for a seat on sunny days and meal times.

Darby’s
Recent renovations to the rooftop patio has made Darby’s a great choice for having a pint while enjoying the sun. The best part: the patio gets sun practically all day long.

The Smoking Dog
Want a little more sophistication with your patio experience? The Smoking Dog is a classic French bistro offering a fine dining experience with your outdoor desires.

Sophie’s Cosmic Cafe
Don’t let the long lines outside scare you; Sophie’s Cosmic Cafe is one of the best breakfast patio options in Kits. Unpretentious, quick service, affordable and casual, it’s the perfect spot for that weekend hangover brunch.

The Galley
We almost didn’t want to include this one on the list because it’s such a hidden gem. The Galley, located upstairs at the Jericho Sailing Club, has by far the best patio views of Vancouver in Kits (but keep it between us, okay?).

Abigail’s Party
Right in between Chewies and Local, is this Vancouver favourite. The patio is small, but if you can your hands on a seat, it’s a great location to people watch.

Thomas Haas
Thomas Haas is a world-renowned chocolatier. This cafe features his amazing chocolates, pastries, and sandwiches. The patio is quaint, and it’s a great location to catch up with friends.
