Sep 27 2016, 2:34 am

Sandwiched between breakfast (the alleged “most important meal of the day”) and dinner (the meal that seems to get all the attention), there’s no good reason to overlook lunch.

Lunch can be the midday bright spot in the workday, or where you linger on a day off. From where to settle in for a marathon chat sesh with the ladies who lunch, to handy spots for quick bites, we’re exploring lunch of all kinds, all around Vancouver.

Here are 9 restaurants serving up great lunchtime eats in Vancouver’s South Granville neighbourhood.

West Restaurant + Bar

One of South Granville’s most elegant restaurants, West specializes in modern regional cuisine, using top-quality seasonal ingredients and the flavours of the Pacific Northwest in exciting, refined contemporary presentations. For lunch West offers a prix fixe option for a three-course meal, as well as a robust a la carte selection. Lunch is served 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Vij’s Rangoli

Once known cheekily as the “fallback plan” when you couldn’t get into Vij’s original Vancouver restaurant, Rangoli is celebrated chef and restaurateur Vikram Vij’s casual eat-in or to-go outpost. No longer the little next-door sibling of Vij’s, which moved to a new location, this market-restaurant hybrid is open 11 am to 10 pm every day, and has a menu of affordable eats, from samosas and curries to heartier, meatier fare.

Stable House

Serving lunch Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 am to 3 pm, Stable House is one of Vancouver’s best-kept culinary secrets. This chic wine bistro has a simple lunch menu of French classics, including salads, savoury crepes, soups, and terrines. We’re also big fans of their charcuterie boards.

It’s pretty simple at Liquids & Solids: You got your liquids (aka soups) and your solids (aka sandwiches and salads). The West Broadway outpost of L&S is open 9 am to 5 pm weekdays, so you can easily come by their café to get your lunch on.
