Eat Your Lunch Out: Kerrisdale

Sep 14 2016, 9:04 pm

Sandwiched between breakfast (the alleged “most important meal of the day”) and dinner (the meal that seems to get all the attention), there’s no good reason to overlook lunch.

Lunch can be the midday bright spot in the workday, or where you linger on a day off. From where to settle in for a marathon chat sesh with the ladies who lunch, to handy spots for quick bites, we’re exploring lunch of all kinds, all around Vancouver.

Here are eight restaurants serving up great lunchtime eats in Vancouver’s Kerrisdale neighbourhood.

Pizzeria Bufala

This neighbourhood-style pizzeria serves lunch on a first-come basis, and everything is made to order, and served family style (so come hungry or bring friends). Known, of course, for their delectable pizzas–and you can’t go wrong with their Margherita–Bufala also offers savoury nibblies like smoked olives, and a popular Kale Caesar Salad.

Affordable Chinese fare that serves up a satisfying meld of authentic eats and more westernized fare. It’s more of a no frills experience here, and the biggest complaints are often about the inconsistent service.

Stock Up Café

You may know Stock Up on West Boulevard for their catering and prepared foods, but you can also sit in the cafe and enjoy lunch. Their lunchtime menu is focused on sandwiches, soups, and salads.

Jinya Ramen Bar

It’s the second Vancouver outpost for this Los Angeles-based ramen company, and you’ll find all the usual suspect on the menu here that Jinya is known for. Don’t skip their signature Jinya #1 Tonkatsu Black Ramen, or their sides, like plump takoyaki.

Faubourg

Enjoy a beautiful lunch inspired by Paris at the Kerrisdale location of Faubourg, one of Vancouver’s best patisseries. Their compact lunch menu is sandwich-centric, but of course you can oh so very easily make the midday meal a decadent experience if you let yourself go at the pastry case.

Secret Garden Tea Co.

Pho Tan

You aren’t going to have your palate rocked here, but you will land upon reliable bowls of pho, vermicelli dishes, salad rolls, and their satay soups. Family-run (with sibling restaurants elsewhere around town) Pho Tan is a small, affordable spot in the neighbourhood when you are craving Vietnamese eats.
