Chicken Fingers

Chicken fingers from Fav Breading (Jess Fleming / Vancity Buzz)

Fav Breading’s chicken fingers are the perfect market snack. They’re easy to eat and incredibly tasty, so much so you’ll want to head straight back to the stall for a second helping. Breaded in either the stall’s original or spicy mix (comprised of simple, natural, and wholesome ingredients), and served on a bed of popcorn, Fav Breading’s free-range chicken is amazingly tender and deliciously salty. Try Fav Breading’s 3 piece box for $5.50 or a combo for $9.25.

Takoyaki

For a light and delicious snack be sure to drop by the Takoyaki and Japanese BBQ stall for a serve of their Takoyaki (4 pieces for $3). This ball-shaped Japanese snack is made of a wheat flour-based batter and cooked in a special Takoyaki pan. Filled with minced octopus and topped with Japanese mayo, shavings of dried bonito (fish) and a light sprinkling of seaweed these small bites are packed with lots of great textures and flavour.

BBQ squid

Craving more seafood? Try a heaping bowl of BBQ squid for $4 or for the more adventurous an entire squid for $10. Perfectly charred on a billowing BBQ in front of your eyes and topped with both sweet chili and soy sauce, this dish is both fresh tasting and delicious. For an extra kick opt for additional spice.

Chow Mein

Hurricane Potato Fries

It would not be a summer night market without lining up for the insanely popular Hurricane Potato ($4.50). Skewered on a stick, and then deep fried the Hurricanes Potato’s sliced up spuds are a simple yet delicious snack. There are a variety of seasonings to choose from including: BBQ; cheddar cheese; dill pickle; parmesan garlic; spicy mayo; cinnamon sugar, and more.

Amazebuns

Amazebuns‘ crisp, warm, doughy deep fried buns are the perfect treat if you’re craving something sweet. Toppings include ice cream, condensed milk and cane sugar, as well as two new flavours: green tea condensed milk, and chocolate syrup. Although you can order a batch of six Amazebuns ($5), after a long night of eating the stall’s half size portions ($3.50) are the ideal size to snack on.
