I spend a lot of time on Instagram. Probably too much. And it occurred to me the other day that my feed is BLOWING UP with dogs. Cute dogs. And puppies. And they’re all so freaking adorable.

Here are my favourite dog Instagram accounts in Vancouver. This is by no means an exhaustive list, or popularity contest — it’s just some of the dogs I like following. This could easily be a monthly feature — it turns out there are a LOT of dogs in Vancouver on Instagram.

Toby Little Dude (Tobes)

Toby Little Dude, or Tobes for short, may be Vancouver’s most popular dog. This Maltese has serious a serious hipster wardrobe and 28,000 followers.

Lexy the senior pitbull

Lexy, a senior rescue pitbull, really puts to rest any preconceived or misunderstood ideas about this breed. Vicious? Only when it comes to her fashion sense. Hooman mom Karen, firm believer in the mantra “adopt don’t shop” is the mastermind behind the House of Pete, a brand of darling leashes and collars, with a portion of proceeds donated to local animal shelters.
Fur Portraits

Jenna Richard captures the true inner spirit of Vancouver dogs through her Fur Portraits photography. It’s a stunning array of creative images of canines and their owners captured across the City of Glass. Hands-down the best animal photog in the city, if not the country, and a lovely lady to boot. Great present for the animal lover in your family!
Just a Girl and her Dogs

Fantastic account chronicling the journeys of Angel, who loves balancing things on her head — and is so good at it — and Nyx, a wee girl in a big, big world. Nyx often ends up on the back of Angel, and it’s, well, as great as you can imagine.
Buggsly the Bugg

Buggsly is the almost shockingly charming “Chief Executive Canine” at Buggsly, a Vancouver-based brand of dapper dog bow ties and clothing.

Stanley

Pint-sized Canucks fan and apparent potato chip lover, this Jack Russell-Daschund mix is a puppy mill survivor and 100 per cent Canadian mutt. His human parents have a mission too: adopt your next furry friend. You may even end up with one just as dashing as wee Stanley.
Pug Donut

Donut is a rather overweight pug living life to the fullest in Vancouver. Enjoys his birthdays with steak, thankyouverymuch. Remains cool whilst wearing the most ridiculous costumes, party hats and sunglasses.
Udon & Ramen

Udon and Ramen are brothers who were rescued together last year. Follow these guys as they enjoy hikes across this beautiful city and pose, well, perfectly side-by-side.
Big and Small Rescue

A fantastic Vancouver-based rescue committed to giving unwanted animals a second chance, this Insta account links homeless pets with their new furr-ever homes. Whether a mutt in need of a haircut or a purebred surrendered to a high-kill shelter, these pups are all adorable — and available.
Django

A Welsh Pembroke Corgie that just celebrated his first birthday. Not a ton of posts here yet but — SQUEE — this Corgie does that totally laying flat Corgie thing. It’s just excellent.
Muffin

A wee Miniature Schnauzer living LARGE in the city. I mean, I learned that both Holt Renfrew and Louis Vuitton are both dog-friendly. But wee man isn’t just into designer duds: Muffin can also kick it in the great outdoors.
Mellon + Miffy
Instagram: Pawradise_zz
Mellon, a super sweet Maltese, and the newly adopted Miffy, a black toy poodle, are an adorable, if not too-sweetly, doted upon pair. Their mom’s homemade dog treats, made with beef, okra and flax seeds, are legitimately more impressive than most of my weeknight dinners.
Cocobups

Proof that shelter dogs can really get a second chance. Tacoma is a Husky Malamute cross living life in Vancouver, and makes lots of friends on outings. Really sweet pup.
Darcat

Spoiler alert: This isn’t a purely dog account. But you’ll see a heck of a lot of this guy: Murphy Brown, my terribly spoiled four-year-old Norfolk terrier. A gentleman that gets in a lot of trouble. Join me!
