Best friends, brand and design junkies and enthusiasts of down-right ‘cool’ events, Dene McKay and Chelsey Perrella are the co-founders and self proclaimed ‘Party Rockers’ of Best Day Ever Creative Events, a Vancouver based boutique wedding and events company.
For these two, a high school friendship that began in the eighth grade would follow them through a post secondary education in marketing and communications, and after many a brainstorming session, a business partnership with a focus on doing things a little differently. Best Day Ever was born out of the notion that even in an industry of exceptionally talented individuals, there was room for a company that looked, spoke and executed in a way that didn’t quite fit the norm.
McKay and Perrella love working with clients who are open to new ideas and less trodden locations, but most importantly, who stay true to who they are. When it comes to aesthetics, their philosophy is that weddings should especially showcase an authentic representation of the couple. Colour scheme and décor are important, but if they don’t tie into a larger picture of the true meaning of the gathering, it’s a missed opportunity.

McKay and Perrella pride themselves on having effective processes that enable open communication and collaboration to ensure that plans are clearly defined and expectations are exceeded. The beauty of hiring a planner is having your very own event expert to bounce ideas off of and to handle the undesirable or most challenging tasks that go along with planning an event. It also helps to have someone there on the day who has your back and can ensure that your event is executed just the way you had envisioned it.
In addition, to complete the day-of event coordination, Best Day Ever provides décor services, including vision development, décor sourcing and styling, as well as custom stationery design and production. When they aren’t meeting with clients or nose deep in spread sheets and floor plans, McKay and Perrella also share their wedding stories and inspiration ideas on their blog and enjoy collaborating with fellow vendors on styled shoots; like this one, featured on the popular wedding blog Style Me Pretty.
