All the best chants fans unleashed on Brady Tkachuk in his return to Ottawa

Brady Tkachuk returned to Ottawa on Wednesday, just a few months after he left the Senators franchise to join his brother in Florida, and the reception was one for the history books.

The moment Tkachuk stepped onto the ice at Canadian Tire Centre with his new Florida Panthers teammates, the 27-year-old was greeted with massive boos from Ottawa fans.

By the time he took the ice for the national anthems, the crowd of 17,000 had erupted into a deafening “Brady sucks” chant that felt like it could be heard across Canada.

But Senators fans weren’t done there. The chant was just one of several jabs aimed at the American star over the course of Ottawa’s 5-1 win over the Panthers.

It’s hard to remember a colder welcome for a star returning to face a former team that they had spent eight seasons with.

Major kudos to Ottawa fans, as they clearly came prepared. The chants ranged from classic “We don’t need you” to “You eat crayons” to “Brady’s balding” and, of course, the good old-fashioned “F*** you Brady.”

Here are the ones we felt stood out from the night.

“Traitor”

There are some points for simplicity with this.

“Timmy’s better”

There’s nothing an ex loves hearing more than how much better someone’s new partner is. Senators fans made sure Tkachuk got that message by backing their loyal star, Tim Stützle.

To add another layer to this, Stützle reportedly skipped dinner with Tkachuk the night before Wednesday’s game, saying he had a chef at home.

“Matthew’s bridesmaid”

This chant was clever from the Canadian Tire Centre crowd, considering Brady is the younger sibling and seems to follow in his brother’s footsteps in nearly everything he does (i.e., NHL team, his Wingman podcast, even their goal celebration is similar).

The chirp also gives a nod to when the Tkachuks took a shot at German star Leon Draisaitl during the 2026 Winter Olympics about being Connor McDavid’s bridesmaid with Edmonton.

“F*** your podcast”

This chant speaks for itself.

“You can’t read”

There aren’t many better disses out there than calling someone illiterate. It’s a family-friendly chirp that hits different, especially when thousands of fans are behind it.
