Beauty Files: Burgundy is back

DH Vancouver Staff Oct 30, 2014 9:15 am

It was one of the strongest fashion and beauty trends for Spring/Summer and the ‘90s love seems to be continuing into Fall/Winter. This is both a good thing (snuggly turtleneck Gap sweaters, Clueless-style minis) and a bad one (the Rachel haircut, Mom jeans, Kelly Kapowski-style crop tops).

One trend we’re definitely digging: sheer, glossy burgundy lips, which flatter every skin tone and style. The best way to achieve the look is with the original cult product, Clinique’s Black Honey Almost Lipstick ($19), which is still so popular that one is sold every three minutes in the US.

The shade is also available as a moisurising lipbalm ($19), eyeliner ($20 for pencil, $19 for brush-on) and nail polish ($18). This month, the brand launches a limited-edition eye palette, A Black Honey Affair All About Shadow ($40, exclusively at Sephora). What’s inside? Eight eyeshadows (four browns and four purples), which can be mixed and matched for a smoky violet eye look. No guarantees, but it may even fit in your fanny pack.
