Beauty Must-Haves For Spring 2014

Dec 19 2017, 9:57 am

Spring is here! The last few sun-shiny days have got me ecstatic about the warm, breezy days ahead. With that in mind, it’s time to amp up your makeup bag with products that will add some glow and a pop of colour to your everyday look!

I’m a firm believer in the “less is more” look during the spring and summer months. I tend to reach for light to medium coverage bases in order to give me the perfect “no makeup, makeup look.” Spring is also a time to have fun and experiment with those bright, bold colors that you don’t normally gravitate towards during the winter months. Below are a few of my staple beauty items for this season – enjoy!

Benefit Cosmetics Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation with SPF 25 ($44)

An oldie but a goodie; I recently re-discovered this foundation and can’t remember why I ever stopped using it. It provides medium coverage and it actually lets my skin breathe more than other foundations I’ve used. The glowy finish I’m left with is to die for!

Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream with SPF 15 ($19)

This BB cream is my go-to product when I want an extra natural look due to the light coverage it gives. It is extremely hydrating, gives you an even skin tone and leaves your skin with a beautiful, dewy finish.

Stila Convertible Colors ($33)

I’m a sucker for dual purpose products – and this is one of them! I find that this cheek and lip colour combo helps give you a more natural look since it’s so blendable. The shade I suggest is Petunia – a soft pink colour that will look great on most skintones.

Maybelline Master Highlight Blush ($12)

Another two-in-one product! This baby acts as a blush and a highlighter for those of you wanting to look even more illuminated. It comes in 6 different shades to satisfy your personal preference.

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipsticks ($23)

I found two deadly colours from this line! Electric Pink (a pink/coral with a matte finish) and Mandarin (an electric coral) were my top picks. Mandarin is a subdued orange with a slightly sheer finish that I find to be bold, yet wearable.

Stila Color Balm Lipstick ($29)

The hydrating formula of this lipstick is what first won me over.  Next was its colour payoff and pigment; one swipe and it’ll give you an opaque, violet colour with a subtle pink undertone!

Lise Watier Dramtique Intense Extra Smooth Liner in Bleu ($20)

Blue is the “it” colour right now when it comes to eyes. The beautiful creamy formulation of this liner makes it a breeze to apply without smudging.

Maybelline Colour Show Liner ($8)

With a great selection of colours it was hard to pick a favourite. I’m loving the vibrancy of the Turqouise Flash and Vibrant Violet. These liners are great for the girl that likes to have a little extra fun and play with colours!

Essie Nail Polish in Playdate  and Fashion Playground ($10)

Playdate is very similar to the colour of the year; radiant orchid! This soft purple colour is great for spring! Fashion Playground is a soft, almost mint green colour with slight shimmer in it; I can’t wait to rock this on my nails next!

Ceramic Glaze in I’m On Island Time ($10)

This coral neon colour is everything I want in a nail polish! It dries matte and comes in several other neon shades.

Kevin Murphy Shimmer Shine Spray ($35-$40)

Looking to repair your hair, all while adding a beautiful shine? Kevin Murphy has you covered! The essential oils and vitamins A, C and E in this product will help repair dry, damaged hair and revive shine! I love spritzing this in my hair before I run out the door to add some extra oomph and glam.
