Beauty Files: Spinning x blow-dry

Dec 20 2017, 1:19 am

There’s nothing more enjoyable than a really tough spin class, apart from sitting at home eating shortbread, going to the pub or giving birth to a great big baby. Oh, okay, spin classes are awful, painful things, but they do allow you to burn gazillions of calories in a relatively short time, which facilitates more shortbread-eating and pub-going.

One major drawback to this and any other workout, especially if you like to exercise at lunchtime, is that you generally look pretty terrible afterwards. Most gyms’ pathetic blow-dryers don’t allow you to get your tresses back in anything resembling a hairstyle, so in the pursuit of the perfect body, you end up with terrible hair. Now, local haircare brand AG Hair and spin studio Eastwood Cycle have come up with a cute little idea: pop-up blow-dry bars where you can get a pro blow-out for $25, with all proceeds going to the Women Leading Change foundation.

‘Spin Hair We Care’ sessions will take place all day on Friday, Sept 25, Friday, Oct 23 and Friday, Nov 27 at Eastwood Cycle, 154 West Hastings St. Cyclists can choose between three styles including beachy waves and a sleek, straight look, while shortbread-eaters can also pop in for a blow-out, no spin required.
