Nail polish is a must now that sandal season’s here. But whether or not certain colours suit our skintone isn’t really talked about in the same way as with lipstick or eyeshadow.
I’m not sure why that is. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve applied some colour that looks amazing on a friend and godawful on me. In a way, it’s worse than an iffy lipstick shade because you can’t just wipe it away. So hip hooray for a simply brilliant idea from Formula X. The San Francisco-based brand has created The Match CLIX, three four-piece nail polish sets, divvied up by skintone – Fair to Light, Light to Medium and Medium to Deep. Each set has a nude, pink, red and green shade, and the four fit into a special lid that locks them all together. Often a great idea is let down by poor execution, but not this time. The colours are all rich and you really only need one coat for perfect coverage. They last, too – so far, five days with no chipping.
