Ciate Mini Manor Advent Calendar ($72)
Ciaté is best known for its caviar pearls – tiny plastic balls that can be used to coat the nails for a simple nail art effect. This set includes a fairly decent sized sample of the caviar, plus nail polishes (one full sized and 17 mini), glitter and transfers. The colours are a mix of darks, pastels, nudes, in shimmers and cream textures, and they’re good quality and a decent size, so you feel you’ve got value for money.

The Body Shop Beauty Advent Calendar
This calendar is great value for money – $129-worth of goodies for just 50 bucks – and packed with makeup, skincare, fragrance and body-care. If that doesn’t appeal, how about this: With every purchase, The Body Shop will donate money to War Child to help fund education for children in Uganda.

LUSH 12 Days of Christmas
If you’re after something with real wow factor, go for this. The picture really doesn’t do it justice. This ‘book’ is colossal – the size of an encyclopaedia, if anyone else is old enough to remember such things – and has 12 full-sized festive treats, including bath bombs, shower gels and lotion.
