Haunted Vancouver: Beatty Street Drill Hall

Dec 19 2017, 1:10 pm

The Beatty Street Drill Hall on 620 Beatty (you pass by it all the time to go to Canucks games) has been a known hot spot for paranormal activity.

Completed in 1901, the castle-like structure is the city’s oldest surviving military drill hall. Unlike most paranormal cases in Vancouver, this one can’t be traced to one particular entity. Perhaps, it’s home to multiple apparitions.

It has been said that footsteps and voices are occasionally heard in the basement. Further, books occasionaly just fall off shelves and wall hangings fall down untouched. Many sightings of a mysterious unknown man in the Officers’ and Senior NCO messes have been reported.

Most of the paranormal activity is concentrated in Officers’ Row. Here, staff have reportedly heard footsteps, felt being touched and felt cold spots as they pass through. It’s also not uncommon to hear ringing of unplugged phones.
