Beard on or off? BC men put beards to public vote for homelessness charity

Three friends are putting their beards on the line to raise money for the Victoria Cool Aid Society in Beard On/Off 2: Leave No Beard Behind.

BC men Brian Bates, Nicholas Johnson and Braeden Papp are asking the public to vote by donation on whether they keep – or shave off – their beards on January 13.

“They are willing to put their chins on the line along with me in supporting this great cause, and for that they have my endless admiration,” writes Bates on his website.

“I can’t think of two better gentlemen to have at my side through it all.”

Their latest effort comes two years after a similar campaign by Bates, who didn’t shave for a year, then put keeping or shaving his beard up for public vote by donation.

As luck would have it, Bates ended up keeping his beard, and raising about $2,700 for Cool Aid, which is on a mission to end homelessness in Victoria.

Now, Bates writes, he hopes to raise even more money for Cool Aid, to help them provide shelters, food, and clothing to people.

“They assist those who have lost more than many of us can ever fathom, and help to restore little pieces of humanity in those people one piece at a time.”

“So I ask you to help myself, Nick, Braeden, and the Cool Aid Society. Help us provide for those who feel they are beyond it. Lets prove them wrong.”
