Beach Bay Café + Patio: Beachside dining at its finest

Dec 19 2017, 11:59 pm

After months of construction, The Beach Bay Café + Patio is officially open for business. Residing on the restaurant strip of Denman Street, in Vancouver’s West End, The Beach Bay Café + Patio exudes an air casual elegance and offers diners a wide range of enticing West Coast fare.

Occupying the former space of the old Raincity Grill, The Beach Bay Café + Patio has retained little aside from the previous restaurant’s layout (even that has changed slightly), adding instead its own unique charm and character to the premises.

Diners who used to frequent Raincity Grill will be amazed at the restaurant’s transformation. While Raincity Grill was painted with dark tones and featured heavy furnishings, The Beach Bay Café is bright and airy with polished accents. The renovation has even given the corner of Denman and Morton a whole new look.

Despite the many changes, The Beach Bay Café has clung onto the restaurant’s open plan dining area and sidewalk patio, which overlooks Morton Park and beyond to the shores of English Bay. The recent overhaul has also meant that the restaurant is able to comfortably seat around 60 diners inside, and 35 outside on the park-facing patio.

In addition to the restaurant’s warm and welcoming interior and exterior, The Beach Bay Café also boasts a wonderful menu featuring many standout dishes.

Chefs Scott Korzack (previously at L’Abattoir and Bambudda) is in the kitchen, and presents a well-rounded menu, which incorporates both traditional West Coast favourites as well as creations that explore new flavour combinations. Currently dinner plates include: salmon tartare; grilled kale salad with poached shrimp; smoked steelhead trout; rare albacore tuna; striploin of beef, and more.

Drawing inspiration from the Pacific Northwest, Korzack and his team feature only the freshest and highest-quality ingredients carefully procured from trusted local suppliers. Beach Bay Café is also a proud partner of Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program; all seafood on the menu is sustainable.

To complement the meals, at the bar, bar manager Adrian Lindner shakes, stirs and pours a range of creative cocktails. For a taste of summer there’s no better choice than the Floral Excuse, which is comprised of Bombay Sapphire Gin, elderflower liqueur, juniper syrup, Lillet and lime.
